The Web search switch selects the DeepSeek Search and Fetch APIs together,
and both reuse the DeepSeek chat key by default. Neither provider answered
readiness, so a step without a usable key was offered web_search and
web_fetch whose every call failed, and a conversation on another provider's
model or behind a gateway sent the chat key to DeepSeek.
dsh-web gives WebFetchProvider an optional ready(llmProvider) and adds
ctx.web.fetchReady(), which asks only the provider fetch() selects, as
searchReady() does for search. tool-web registers web_fetch with a step
activation condition on fetchReady(), so a step that cannot fetch leaves the
tool out of declarations, guidance, and PTC bindings and refuses a call to
it as UNKNOWN_TOOL; without web_fetch the search guidance uses its
search-only text. The shipped HTTP fetch provider has no ready() and stays
admitted.
web-deepseek-api applies the API-key rules of Messages search to both APIs:
without a literal apiKey, an apiKeyEnv other than DEEPSEEK_API_KEY, or a
baseURL other than the default, the chat key goes only to the DeepSeek
routes and only to an API base on the official chat route's origin. The
refusal sits in the key's only resolver, and both providers' ready()
answers presence in the order an operation resolves credentials. The
transport repeats these checks so the package still does not depend on
dsh-web-search-deepseek.
Master's step-scoped conditional activation resolves each tool's condition
before a model step assembles, and both the declarations and dispatch read
that admitted set. Prompt assembly no longer carries tool declarations, so
tool-web's system-prompt/assemble listener could not remove web_search any
more, and removing a declaration there never stopped a repeated call from
running.
tool-web now registers web_search with a when condition that asks
ctx.web.searchReady() about the route of the step's model selection, and its
guidance section renders from the step's admitted set. A step that does not
admit the tool leaves it out of declarations, guidance, and PTC program
bindings, and refuses a call to it as UNKNOWN_TOOL without reaching a
provider. Tests that execute web_search directly now run inside a resolved
step, as the executor requires for conditional registrations.
Docs, the readiness Agent Note, and the event producer/consumer table follow
the new mechanism; the tools README gains an explicit conditional-tools
anchor for cross-locale links.
The DeepSeek Search API returns a short `snippet` for display and a longer
`summary` written for model reading. Carry `summary` on `WebSearchSource`,
map it from the Search API, and render it in place of the snippet in
`web_search` output while the search card keeps the snippet.
`tool-web` collapses summary whitespace and caps each summary at the new
`searchSummaryMaxChars` setting (800 characters by default, the upper end of
the guide's typical range; live summaries measured 1,000-2,300). The cut keeps
surrogate pairs intact and ends in an ellipsis. The PTC tool output type gains
the optional field, so the affected system-prompt sidecars are refreshed, and
the web search round now exercises a multi-line summary.
Move per-request web_search withholding out of the DeepSeek provider:
- dsh-web: add the optional WebSearchProvider.ready(llmProvider) and
ctx.web.searchReady(llmProvider?), which asks only the provider that
search() would select; a provider without ready() and a selection
failure answer true.
- dsh-web-search-deepseek: implement ready() with the existing credential
check and drop the assemble listener together with its system-prompt,
tools, and tool-web dependencies.
- dsh-tool-web: remove web_search and its tool:web_search section in a
prepended system-prompt/assemble listener when searchReady() answers
false for the route model selection assigned to the request.
A composition that selects another search provider no longer loses
web_search when DeepSeek has no credential. The Agent Note is renamed to
2026-09-27-web-search-offered-by-provider-readiness and records the split.
Tool guidance sections keep only what the tool definitions do not say.
Apply review: reword interrupt_agent and list_agents, carry "a rejected
escalation stays denied" in the rejection error, pin
sandboxPermissionsDescription, and fix stale README and Agent Note
statements. Record the tool-definition rules in agent-experience.
Compaction threshold snapshots shift their context windows by the
370-token system-prompt estimate reduction; escalation-rejected moves to
a v4 fixture for the new rejection text.
Delete constraints the model learns from the call result, shorten
implementation detail, and move per-parameter rules into the owning
parameter descriptions. Bash, pwsh, and fs share one
sandbox_permissions description in dsh-sandbox.
The standard preset's first-turn prompt drops from 7985 to 6551 tokens.
Compaction threshold snapshots lower their context windows by the
1548-token tool-schema estimate reduction so each trigger keeps its
position; their fixtures move to v4 generations.
Machine-produced by `pnpm run rescope-vendor --apply` plus the regeneration it
prints: `pnpm install` for the lockfile, `pnpm run gen-third-party-notices`,
`verify-translation-pairing --write` for the touched bilingual pairs,
`gen-doc-graphs`, and one typert snapshot whose ids embed character offsets.
`pnpm run rescope-vendor --check` verifies the result.
Renames nine vendored packages (cordis, cosmokit, schemastery and the six
@cordisjs plugins) and every reference that resolves them: manifest names and
dependency keys, module specifiers including declare-module merges, cordis.yml
plugin names, tsconfig paths, every Markdown fence, and `docs/` prose.
Directory names, upstream versions, and dependency ranges are unchanged, so
vendor/README.md still reads as an upstream snapshot; its manifest table gains
an upstream-name column so THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES keeps MIT attribution pointed
at each fork's origin.
The tutorial tier follows the rename end to end: its yaml fences named plugins
the Loader can no longer resolve, its `ts ignore-check` fences disagreed with
the compiled fences beside them, and its prose quoted both. The contracts that
told readers to keep upstream names — the root convention and the vendoring
cookbook's tree comment and manifest invariant — now say to rescope instead.
Two rules read `@deepseek-ai/` as "another workspace plugin": the client bundle
purity gate now names the vendored libraries a browser bundle inlines, and the
files where a bare `cordis` is an agent-preset id keep that product data.
The web_search execute result and searchMetaFromValue each spread the
same {url, title?, snippet?, publishedAt?} projection over a seam source,
which the duplication gate flags as a clone. Extract projectSource, typed
on the seam's WebSearchSource, so both sites carry a byte-identical shape
from one definition.
renderFetchOutput has no external consumer: only formatFetchOutput and
fetchMetaFromValue call it, both through the registry, which deep-freezes
the result value. Exporting it let a hypothetical caller mutate a cached
input or the returned RenderedFetch and desync the card's truncated flag
from the model text. Drop it from the barrel and document that the memo
needs no defensive copy because every caller is internal and read-only.
Route a `web` result card's raw-content fallback through the TUI's dim
Markdown path (render() only recognized `card: 'generic'` as markdown
content, so web fallback rendered as bare undimmed text).
Memoize renderFetchOutput per (result, maxOutputChars) so the registry's
twin output.render / output.presentationMeta calls on the same frozen
result run one HTML->markdown conversion instead of two.
Remove the trailing `</content>`/`</invoke>` protocol residue from both
sides of the web-result-card Agent Note and re-record the pairing.
Address the code-review bot findings on the web result card:
- web_fetch's card truncated now derives from the shared renderFetchOutput
helper, matching the effective truncation the model-facing text reflects
(provider cap, source cut, or output cap), instead of the provider-only flag.
- Drop the redundant content copy from both web result views; a UI without the
web capability falls back to the raw tool/result content. Narrow the TUI
transcript view.content access accordingly.
- Set the result-state title from the call args (query/url) so a window-
truncated replay keeps a title.
- Project meta from the seam result types rather than hand-rolled value types.
- Sync the card vocabulary across core tools README, docs/core-data-structures,
the adding-a-tool cookbook, and the tool-web package README (both languages,
re-recorded pairings); regenerate the cordis api-catalog and cordis-inspect
snapshot; revise the Agent Note.
web_search and web_fetch returned only model-facing text, whose markdown source
list is lossy (title-or-hostname label, snippet and date concatenated), so a
client could not recover the structured sources. Add a card:'web' result view
with a kind discriminant ('search' carrying structured sources + answer +
truncated, 'fetch' carrying url + statusCode + truncated), projected through
each tool's output.presentationMeta and read back in presentResult. A UI
without the web card falls back to content; the TUI is unchanged. The web
consumer is a follow-up.
Two review findings on the turndown swap, both verified empirically:
- Unclosed-tag nesting makes the synchronous turndown/domino walk
superlinear (measured: depth 512 ~0.15s, 2k ~2s, 20k ~5s), during
which the cooperative fetchTimeoutMs timer cannot fire. renderBody
now preflights nesting depth with a linear tag scan and passes
bodies past 512 levels through raw; the try/catch stays for markup
the scan cannot see (comment-hidden tags), simulated in tests via a
converter throw.
- Markdown escaping can expand converted HTML ~2x (100k underscores
render as 200k chars), so provider body caps no longer bounded the
model-visible result. formatFetchOutput now caps the complete output
(header + body + footer) under new fetchMaxOutputChars config
(default 200000 = 2x the local provider's default body cap), reusing
the truncation notice.
README EN+ZH, config catalog, Agent Note EN+ZH updated; the new
web-fetch fixture is migrated to the packed layout master now
requires; tool-web coverage stays 100% per-file.
Implements the turndown Agent Note from the NIH dependency audit (full
variant, not the minimal entities-only fallback): dsh-tool-web's fetch
rendering now converts HTML through turndown + @joplin/turndown-plugin-gfm
(atx headings, fenced code, dash bullets, GFM tables/strikethrough) over
the real domino DOM, with script/style/noscript removed wholesale. The
hand-rolled ~86-line regex converter html.ts and its entity tables are
deleted; renderBody wraps the conversion in try/catch falling back to
the raw HTML body, because turndown's recursive DOM walk overflows with
a RangeError on pathological nesting (measured: 4k levels on the main
thread, 8k in a worker) where the regex version could never throw.
Closure weight, measured: tool-web IS in the single-exe runtime closure,
and the exe asset globs would pack ~7.9 MB of the three new packages —
but ~6 MB of that is domino's test corpus, with runtime lib/ at ~550 KB
against a ~174 MB artifact (<0.5% either way), so the swap wins.
Per testing policy the previously-missing keyless web_fetch snapshot
ships in the same change: the acp-agent `web-fetch` scenario boots a new
web.cordis.yml overlay (web seam + real dsh-web-fetch-local provider +
tool-web fetch-only + a loopback HTTP fixture server on a fixed port
serving deterministic HTML with entities, a GFM table, and nesting), so
recording and keyless replay both drive the real HTTP fetch and real
conversion end to end; the scenario pins the new `web` header class.
The Agent Note moves proposed -> implemented and is rewritten per the
lifecycle contract (Decision/Consequences/Testing, closure verdict and
alternatives recorded); tool-web and acp-agent READMEs updated in both
languages and pairs re-recorded.
fetchTimeoutMs/searchTimeoutMs (default 30000) resolve to each tool's
ToolDefinition.timeoutMs, moving the budget's declaration home onto the
owning tool plugin and preserving per-tool deployment override without a
mistypable central tool-name map.
Model-facing tool-call budgets were tangled into each capability's schema
(bash timeoutMs, web_fetch timeout_ms) with no shared home. Add a
tools/execute around-dispatch waterfall to dsh-tools whose base next() is
the dispatch-with-normalization thunk, and a new @deepseek-ai/dsh-timeout-policy
plugin (packages/timeout/) that arms a per-tool deadline on exec.signal and
returns a structured TOOL_TIMEOUT when it wins. Migrate web_fetch (drop the
model-facing timeout_ms) and web_search onto it; the fetch provider keeps its
timeout only as a resource backstop for direct callers. bash and hook command
execution keep BASH_TIMEOUT unchanged.
Named the plugin timeout-policy (not the RFC's tool-timeout) so it does not
trip the gen-tool-catalog packages/*/tool-* completeness guard, and replace
exec.signal by in-place mutation before next() since cordis waterfall next()
ignores passed arguments. RFC moved to implemented/ recording both deviations.
New doc-sync gate verify-export-jsdoc walks every module-level exported
name under packages/*/*/src and requires description prose everywhere,
plus @param per parameter and @returns on non-void annotated returns for
function-like exports, public class methods, properties, and accessors.
The parsing + check helpers move out of gen-cordis-catalog.ts into a
shared scripts/jsdoc.ts so 'documented' means one thing on both gated
surfaces.
Deliberate exemptions (documented in the RFC): heritage-declared class
members (the seam declaration is the doc's one home — the one checker
query in an otherwise pure-AST walk), cordis plugin-protocol slots
(name/inject/reusable/Config/apply, top-level and static), constructors,
overload implementations, declare-module augmentation bodies, and
re-export statements (checked at the defining module).
The 203 under-documented exports the gate found at adoption are filled
in this change, so the gate lands green; generated catalogs/graphs are
regenerated for the shifted line pointers.
RFC: docs/rfc/implemented/process/2026-07-06-export-surface-jsdoc-gate.md
The audit swept every packages/*/* plugin for the new AGENTS.md
convention (no hardcoded tunables in plugins) and exposes each finding
as a defaulted, validated Config field. Defaults are the previously
hardcoded values throughout, so no deployment or golden changes.
- tool-fs (had NO Config): readLimit, readMaxLineLength, readMaxBytes,
readStreamMinSize. The caps thread through ReadToolCaps/ReadWindow —
read-render already documented that the consumer applies the caps, so
they become explicit per-request fields.
- tool-web: searchMaxResults (WEB_SEARCH_MAX_RESULTS stays as the
schemastery default). Also fixes the stale GREP_LIMIT references in
search.ts and the web-capability-seam RFC (no such constant exists).
- bash-local: graceMs (SIGTERM->SIGKILL escalation grace). The
RunInternals.graceMs test seam is gone: graceMs is now a required
SpawnSpec field filled from config, so tests exercise the real
config path and the defaults live in exactly one place.
- subagent-acp: disposeEofGraceMs / disposeGraceMs. The AcpRunSpec
fields become required for the same one-defaulting-layer reason.
- session-persistence-sqlite: journalMode ('wal' default; the
rollback-journal modes serve filesystems where WAL's shared-memory
files do not work, e.g. network mounts).
- hooks-claude + hooks-codex: stderrSummaryMaxChars for the persisted
hook/result stderr summary. The duplicated summarize() helpers merge
into hook-protocol's summarizeStderr(stderr, maxChars), beside the
HookResultRecord field it feeds, with the bound parameterized the
same way runHook's defaultTimeoutMs already is.
- compact-basic: charsPerToken for the token estimator (default 4, the
English-text heuristic; CJK-heavy deployments need ~1-2 or compaction
fires far too late). Also corrects the BasicCompactService class doc,
which claimed defaults the required-field config never had.
- fs-local: deletes the dead STREAM_MIN_SIZE constant and the dead
FsIoInternals.streamMinSize seam — the read-routing bound lives in
the consumer (tool-fs), where it is now config. This is item 1 of
the proposed prune-write-only-fs-surface RFC, annotated accordingly.
Every new field gets range validation (following the existing
assertPositiveFinite pattern), a README row, and tests covering the
configured behavior, the schema default, and load-time rejection.
