The workflow tool gains run_in_background (enableRunInBackground config,
default on): the run registers on ctx.jobs as an owned 'workflow' record
job and the call returns { kind: 'background', jobId, runId } immediately.
The run belongs to the job — job_kill, the list's stop control, and owner
teardown cancel it; no tool-step signal is bridged. Settlement maps the
stop reason onto the job outcome, with a completed run's rendered return
value riding output to the completion notice and job_output. A record
mirror streams workflow/phase, workflow/log, and member lifecycle lines
into the job record, replacing the removed activity mirror; the output
schema becomes a kind-discriminated union and 'workflow' joins JobKindMap.
Snapshot expected outputs are refreshed for the schema, prompt, and PTC
stub changes (the keyless refresh also migrates fixtures to the current
session write format: range sourceEventSeqs and reasoning-delta chunks).
The promotion machinery was copied from bash-local without its tests;
runners without pwsh skip and exempt the file, so only the Windows
coverage lane surfaced the gap.
An agent-attributed timeout promotion fences the job to the calling
session in both shell tools, and the pwsh promoted job's cancel hook is
exercised through a registry kill.
Covers the woken-wait fast path (a wake landing while the generator is
suspended on a yield), the opened frame's live-detail arm, and the
sessionId-less caller resolution over an unowned job.
Carries the hairline-elevation sweep forward; the settled-section heading,
chevron box, and stop control move to 0.5px borders while keeping this
branch's padding.
Absorbs the superellipse-corner and hairline-elevation sweep; keeps the
data-with-body header divider on TerminalBlock at the new 0.5px width and
brings the job-list settled-section rule onto the hairline standard.
Carries the master sync forward (invariant-companion cleanup, alpha.3 bump);
regenerates the client api catalog so ISession lists both killJob and the new
loadThrough, and refreshes the new ptc-python-turn scenario's system-prompt
pin for this branch's bash timeout-promotion schema text.
Absorbs the repo-wide no-op invariant companion removal (ui-jobs loses its
placeholder companion, export, and devDep), the 0.1.2-alpha.3 release bump,
and the tool-subagent-report package retirement; regenerates the client slot
catalog for the shifted contract line numbers.
The two styling notes name the surveyed product; the mechanism facts
(superellipse token, guard, full-round opt-out, stroke-in-shadow
elevation, 0.5px hairline) stand alone, so the notes now state them
without the product reference. Pairing records re-recorded.
Catalog line references and the re-landed promoteOnTimeout blocks follow
the merge in both languages; the ordering test narrows getAttribute's null
before startsWith so the client face compiles.
The composer hairline moves one step up from the menus' l1; the seven
menu-fill dropdown cards grow from 16px to 20px corners. Notes and the
token comment record the new layering.
Re-declare the derived elevation tokens on body * so per-surface
--dsw-elevation-stroke-color rebinds reach the consuming shadow (custom
properties inherit with var() already substituted); pin that mechanism
and add synthetic rejection cases to the stylesheet scans; take the
ring-track basenames through node:path so the exemption matches on
Windows; update the ModelsSection row-card spec to the hairline recipe;
align the elevation note with the shipped l1 menu rebind, refresh the
feedback-popover note's surface recipe, and document the soft tier.
Observation (re)opens run on caller stacks — a React expand click, a
carrier retry — whose dynamic context has not declared remote.session, so
the ClientJobOutput wiring resolves the namespace to a concrete value while
the plugin's own context is current, exactly as the activity client did.
Caught by the live-job-stream web e2e, whose goldens (with the
background-job-list pair) now carry the ui-jobs list name; the client-apply
spec gains a jobOutput wiring smoke.
The regenerated session namespace requires the new stream; the fake serves
a never-yielding generator, and job-output.client.spec exercises the real
consumer.
Chinese sides of the jobs, jobs-local, tool-bash, tool-pwsh, tool-workflow,
session-controller, and ui-jobs pages follow their English edits; the
generated en-only catalogs (config catalog, capability seams, event
producer/consumer) get the same section surgery by hand; the activity
subsystem page triplet is fully removed and the jobs page carries the
record contract in both languages with fresh type-equiv manifest entries.
The three prior activity notes point at the superseding note. Web e2e label
assertions follow the ui-jobs copy, and the three test call sites that
invoked run() bare pass the producer face.
Apply global visual polish across the web client: corner-shape:
superellipse(1.5) with corner-shape: round pairing for full circles,
elevation tokens that draw 0.5px stroke outlines inside box-shadow for
floating surfaces, 0.5px hairline borders and divider lines for
neutral-token strokes, and tuned stroke contrast plus larger radii for
menus, settings panels, and cards. Stylesheet-scan specs in ui-theme
reject unpaired circles, border+shadow mixes, and 1px neutral hairlines
repo-wide.
Closes#3287
packages/activity/* and packages/api/activity-controller are removed. The
web roster is the session control stream's jobs frames alone; per-job output
observation rides session.observeJob and the client ctx.jobOutput service.
ui-activity returns to its upstream name ui-jobs and renders the single
roster — a row is expandable exactly when its job declared a record
(outputTotal present). Composition rows, dependency-policy exemptions,
tsconfig aliases and references, generated catalogs, and the docs pages
follow; the activity subsystem page is deleted and the jobs page gains the
record contract. The superseding Agent Note records the decision and points
the three prior notes at it.
SessionJob rows carry outputTotal exactly for record-declaring jobs, and a
new session.observeJob stream serves one job's retained record from an
absolute offset (anchor, coalesced output frames, terminal status) with the
fenced read resolved from the request's session — the same authorization
shape as the jobs roster. The client half gains ctx.jobOutput: the
reference-counted per-job observation service and its accumulated view
model, ported from the activity controller this replaces.
bash and pwsh background runs declare record: true and pump their observed
streams straight into the job through observeProcessRecord — the open/end
pairing, outcome mapping, and registry-absent degradation branches are gone,
and the pump's final drain folds into hooks.done so the record holds its
last bytes before settlement closes it. activityPollMs becomes recordPollMs.
tool-workflow drops its foreground activity mirror deliberately: a
foreground run's live phase/log narration had the mirror as its only
carrier, and the transcript keeps the recorded run/member lifecycle events.
Live narration returns with backgrounded runs when workflow gains
run_in_background.
A job can now declare record: true and stream raw output into a bounded
per-job ring through the RunningJob face its starter receives: readRecord
serves any number of observers at absolute byte offsets without touching
the consuming model cursor or notice state, onOutput signals advancement,
and updateDetail publishes a live progress line into every snapshot. Job
settlement is the record's only end: it trims retention to the settled cap
and fires the final output signal, so producers no longer reconcile two
terminal states. pumpJobOutput ports the offset-reader pump beside the
seam. This is the first step of merging the standalone dsh-activity
observation plane into jobs.
