With a job registry composed, tool-bash and tool-pwsh now register every
command with ctx.jobs as it starts and wait on the job with the registry's
own bounded wait: a command that finishes in time returns the ordinary
foreground result and its record is removed, one that outlives the timeout
returns the same job id it already had, and a kill from outside the call is
reported as `[stopped: <reason>]`. Nothing changes hands at the deadline, so
the shell seam loses `onExpiry: 'offer'`, `ShellExecution.promotion`, and
`ShellPromotionOffer`, and both local executors drop their offer arm.
The registry stays optional: the tools register a foreground-only definition
while no registry is composed and swap to the job-backed one inside a
`ctx.inject(['jobs'])` fork, so a composition without jobs keeps a plain bash
with no job tools in the model's schema. A refused registration at the start
(admission, no controller) runs under the executor's deadline kill, and a wait
that expires before the process spawned ends as the preparation timeout.
JobRegistry gains `remove(id, caller?)` and the `settled` event reports
`awaited`, so dsh-tool-jobs no longer keeps its own wait ledger; it withholds
notices for awaited settlements and for kills the model requested. The tool
catalog harvest composes the registry so the shipped schema stays documented,
and the two compaction fixtures move their context window from 10000 to 10300
tokens because the branch's larger tool schemas pushed their condensed history
over the old trigger, which requested a fourth scripted model call.
Merge a2acc7d3eb620bb52f09f7ea3b5a3a1c23353e18 after preserving the earlier
master checkpoint and its successful CI. Carry current provider input-history
handling, UI controls, agent targeting, and runner-concurrency changes into
the integration base without changing the Session migration feature layers.
Keep durable direct-child catalog semantics alongside the upstream running /
inactive vocabulary. Resolve the snapshot description conflicts by retaining
that upstream status text and the existing descendants-only diagnostic rule;
the source and all 53 JSON tool descriptions agree. Preserve parent-session
availability handling with the upstream stale-blank and batched-history fixes.
The merged application builds, all 41 documentation gates pass, and focused
provider, tool-control, and Session Controller tests pass (98, 29, and 125).
Recorded input changes come from master: one refreshed v3 list-agents sample
and three new v3 scenarios; no migration bumps an existing snapshot generation.
Keep prepared-route in-history append, clear-all, and normalization semantics while adopting named persona prefix/suffix and late environment facts from master. Resolve documentation against the derived system-message history and retain the existing strict migration behavior.
Preserve system/message persistence while adopting named persona prefix/suffix and environment facts after reusable instructions. Resolve the Web assertion against the logged system message, not retired header.system. Keep the existing protected V3 integration PR as the root publication path; no rules are bypassed.
Regenerate only native V3 Session/output oracles through the shipped headless and SDK profiles. These outputs retain system-message admission before users, bind request metadata before title fallback, and record real V3 delivery acknowledgments. Historical V0/V1/V2 replay inputs remain unchanged; pinned scenarios keep separate writer outputs.
The upper headless/SDK refresh covered109 cases; the only initial failure used macOS system Python3.9 for the PTC Python scenario, which passed with the declared CPython3.14 PATH. No assertion or runtime behavior was changed to accommodate it.
Compose the shared release branch PTC rename with the structural system-head migration in the existing V2-to-V3 stage. Audit source payloads and remap local coordinates before renaming dispatch vocabulary and owned plugin attribution; retain original message identities and generation-qualified references. Native V3 validation combines the same system and PTC lifecycle semantics through a private released-validation view.
Reuse the V3 row-admission owner in current JSONL scanning before recoverable-tail suppression, so malformed rows cannot hide retired required PTC tags or header.system. The new corruption-prefix regressions and all173 existing JSONL scanner tests pass. Combined migration/catalog/persistence suite:300 tests; executable V3 migration source has100% coverage. No released generation, prior migration implementation, shared release branch, benchmark or CI workflow is modified by this integration.
Restore all 147 historical canonical fixtures changed by the lower branch to exact shared base 220ff708e3628a9be46d9747d09af6d8cd742f0d bytes (145 V2 and two V0). All 180 committed V0/V1/V2 canonical files now have zero diff against that base, including unchanged Python, test-support and preview sources.
Preserve corrected lower writer bodies in 146 V3 successors across 119 owner directories: replace 135 unreleased V3 counterparts and add 11 siblings. Change only each copied Session header version; preserve all body bytes, raw model streams, inline images, IDs, references and historical delivery generation markers. Remove two unshipped V2 additions after creating their V3 sibling: record-suite/rec-pin and empty-response-retry-current.
Keep six explicitly historical snapshot owners pinned with no V3 sibling. Restore the two pre-step V0 record child sources without synthesizing current output. Fix seven embedded Session header versions in exactly five test-support behavior owners whose output filenames already select V3. Leave protocol expectations, shared references, sidecars, consumer scripts and production migration/normalization code untouched.
Validation: purpose-built temporary Python inventory and verifier checked 337 canonical headers, 3714 successor JSON rows, message roles, contiguous child roles, exact successor bodies, all 180 historical base bytes and zero git diff, noncanonical JSONL immutability, six retained owners and six unchanged preview fixtures. git diff --cached --check passed. Temporary generators removed. Strict migration, native refresh and replay remain pending parent integration; unsupported pre-step sources are reported separately.
Consolidate the representation-change PR and its rebase reconciliations into one baseline. Preserve the exact tree and keep the in-history feature in the dependent PR. Follow-up fixes remain separate.
Regenerates the module graph for tool-workflow's new dsh-jobs edge (the
doc-sync aggregate does not run that gate), refreshes the web lane's own
schema/prompt pins for the run_in_background tool text, re-packs every
session fixture the keyless refresh had left off the canonical packed
layout, covers pwsh-local's never-spawned empty observed readers, and
rewrites the pwsh-sandbox sync-rejection start() test to the seam's
actual containment contract — execute() never throws; the sync spawn
throw settles the handle killed and result() carries the attribution
split. That test sits behind the pwsh probe, so only the Windows lane
had ever executed it.
The workflow tool gains run_in_background (enableRunInBackground config,
default on): the run registers on ctx.jobs as an owned 'workflow' record
job and the call returns { kind: 'background', jobId, runId } immediately.
The run belongs to the job — job_kill, the list's stop control, and owner
teardown cancel it; no tool-step signal is bridged. Settlement maps the
stop reason onto the job outcome, with a completed run's rendered return
value riding output to the completion notice and job_output. A record
mirror streams workflow/phase, workflow/log, and member lifecycle lines
into the job record, replacing the removed activity mirror; the output
schema becomes a kind-discriminated union and 'workflow' joins JobKindMap.
Snapshot expected outputs are refreshed for the schema, prompt, and PTC
stub changes (the keyless refresh also migrates fixtures to the current
session write format: range sourceEventSeqs and reasoning-delta chunks).
Carries the master sync forward (invariant-companion cleanup, alpha.3 bump);
regenerates the client api catalog so ISession lists both killJob and the new
loadThrough, and refreshes the new ptc-python-turn scenario's system-prompt
pin for this branch's bash timeout-promotion schema text.
The #3289 merge-forward dropped four typescript/no-unnecessary-condition
suppressions from index.ts (boot-write-failure fake child stdin, the
admit()-closure logsTruncated recheck, and both settled rechecks whose
guards flip mid-wait), turning the lint:contracts-ready gate red. Re-add
them with their reasons. The merge also carried a ptc-python-turn session
fixture that was not in canonical packed layout; migrate-packed-session-fixtures
re-writes it so session-fixture-layout passes.
